Mark Roemer Oakland Provides You with Tips and Tricks to Keep Windows 10 Running Smoothly

Introduction

Windows is the major operating system used across personal and professional workstations throughout the world. However, it isn’t without flaws. According to Mark Roemer Oakland, if unchecked your PC may be getting slower. Here are a few tips and tricks to keep Windows 10 running smoothly:

Tips & Tricks

1. Uninstall software that you don’t need – While the problem of crapware bugs Android phones with pre-installed unnecessary software, your PC isn’t immune. When you buy a pre-built PC or a laptop, you are going to end up with a few additional software that may be hogging additional storage and resources on your computer. Fortunately uninstalling them is easy.

  • Left-click on the Windows icon at the bottom right of your screen on the taskbar
  • Left-click on Settings( The gear icon)
  • Left-click on the Apps tile from the newly opened window
  • You can scroll down the list of apps installed on your computer and left-click on the app that you don’t need
  • Left-click on the Uninstall button that pops up

2. Get an SSD as your startup drive – SSDs or Solid-State Drives are phenomenally faster compared to traditional Hard Disk Drives and can bring a significant quality of life change. With an SSD Windows starts quicker, within a few seconds and applications load faster. For instance, each task on Adobe Photoshop will be smoother and quicker when it’s installed on an SSD. the app opens quickly, images are loaded faster, and effects are rendered within record time. It can reduce the time invested in your daily workflow significantly.

3. Limit startup processes – Another easy and free way to get Windows to start up faster is by limiting startup processes. A lot of software and programs would install side processes to startup with Windows. That leaves a heavy impact and translates into a longer wait time after you start your computer. To fix this:

  • Go to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and right-click on it
  • Choose Task Manager from the available options
  • Left-click on the Startup tab on the newly opened task Manager window
  • It shows a list of processes that start with Windows and their impact on the startup is marked as “None”, “Low”, “Medium”, “High” etc.
  • Choose the processes that you don’t think should start with Windows and left-click on the Disable button at the bottom left corner

4. Scan for spyware and viruses – If you have purchased any Anti-virus software you can install and run it on Windows to scan for malicious programs or use the built-in Windows Defender to do the same. Remember to run scans frequently and quarantine detected threats and allow auto-updates for the virus definitions and keep your Antivirus software on at all times. If you opt for third-party software, make sure that it isn’t hogging your system resources. You can check it from the Task Manager.

Conclusion

Mark Roemer Oakland suggests that you take these actions to keep Windows running smoothly on your computer.
